How to Root and Un-Root Xiaomi Mi4

Xiaomi, the Apple of China launched the wonderful Xiaomi Mi4. The Mi4 is the successor to the Xiaomi’s Mi3 which was launched long back in India. Xiaomi also launched Mi4i as a sibling of the Mi4 and now it is planning for Mi4C.

Pre-requisites.

  • Sufficiently charged (80%) to avoid harms while rooting process.

How to root Mi4?

Step I : Download Xiaomi Mi4 Developer ROM (zip version) on your computer.
Step II : Rename the file with ‘update.zip’.
Step III : Now move the file from your computer to your mobile microSD card using the data cable.
Step IV : Select the Updater icon on your phone.
Step V : Click on the Menu option and select Reboot to recovery mode.
Step VI : In recovery mode, you have to use the Volume Up and Down buttons to move up and down and Power Button to select.
Step VII : Once the phone has booted to recovery mood Select Wipe and Reset -> Wipe Cache -> Yes
Step VIII : Once done, select Back option.
Step IX : Again you are back to Main Menu. Select install update.zip.
Step X : Once the installation process is complete, select Back option.
Step XI : Select Reboot-> Reboot to System One.
Step XII : Once your device is restarted, Goto Settings -> Security -> Permissions -> Enable Root Permission.
And now you have successfully rooted Mi4. Congratulations.
